OFGS Reaches Out
OFGS recognises the need for young people in our community to look beyond themselves and reach out to others. In 2015, the school launched a new initiative, “OFGS Outreach”, which will encourage our students to think outside themselves by raising awareness and funds for people in need within the community and globally.
As in previous years, a number of events will be held during the year to raise money for their “Outreach Partners” – Compassion and International Care Ministries (ICM). In addition, students from Kindy to Year 12 will participate in the “Outreach Focus” for the term and will be involved in fundraising and raising awareness for the following organisations:
Term 1 – Child Action Lanka (CAL) – In partnership with C3 Church, CAL works to assist and transform the lives of disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka. Click here for more information on CAL.
Term 2 – Oasis Youth Support Network (Oasis) – in partnership with The Salvation Army, Oasis provides a place of safety and care where young people can find refuge. Click here for more information on Oasis.
Term 3 – International Care Ministries (ICM) Philippines – ICM works implement positive change against poverty through a variety of programs. Click here for more information
Term 4 – Christmas Hampers – Partnering with C3 Church, the school will donate Christmas hampers to people in need in our local community.
Christian Studies Teacher, Mr Peter Ryburn said, “OFGS has a rich history of encouraging students to think outside of themselves and help others around them. 2015 marks a year of fresh focus on reaching out, and we’re excited to have the entire school united in their focuses this year.”
