Northern Beaches Young Writers’ Competition

Earlier this year students in Years 7 to 11 were invited to compose a piece of imaginative writing for the Northern Beaches Young Writers’ Competition. Students were asked to include the words “upside down” in their writing. Published authors had the difficult task of choosing the winners. Students were sent a letter to invite them to come to the presentation of winners, held at the Dee Why Council Chambers. It is with great pleasure that I announce that the students listed below were presented the following awards:
Year 5  Charlie Carroll: Highly Commended for The Great Cockroach Race
Year 7 Stanley Christie-Spear : Winner for The Upside of Down
Year 9  Rachel Weir: Runner up for Smashed Glass
Year 10 Kade Kinchington: Encouragement Award for Jamal
Year 11 Melanie Wearing : Highly Commended for The Visit
Year 11 Natasha Donald:  Year 11 Encouragement Award for The Social Experiment
